Mothman was first reported in Point Pleasant, West Virginia in November 1966: a tall, winged figure with glowing red eyes, seen by multiple witnesses in the months before the Silver Bridge collapse. That timing turned a local sighting into a national legend, and Point Pleasant has embraced it ever since, right down to its own Mothman statue and annual festival.
